Great album, I like all the songs. I hope he will soon be more widely known. Also love his Live album with Far East Band which is not yet available on Amazon, check Amazon.de. Have to give both albums 5 stars. Old school conscious reggae.

Jah Thomas "Liquid Brass" Album Review

Album Description
Reggae evolved from Ska, Blue Beat, and Rock Steady. Much is owed to the creative talents of Jackie Mittoo, Don Drummond, Roland Alphonso, Tommy McCook, and Ernie Rangling to name a few. Great musicians working together to combine the influences of their roots and culture with the Jazz training and experiences gained from their excursions to the USA. A special homage is paid to Coxsone Dodd ("Encomium for Coxsone"), owner and producer of Studio One, the first black owned studio of Jamaica. Legendary roots producer Nkrumah Thomas (better known as DJ Jah Thomas), has brought together old and new ridims in a style that is sure to please and tease your musical senses. Solid bass lines, playful percussion and guitar, smooth piano and organ, from seasoned musicians Roots Radics, Mafia and Fluxy, Sly and Robbie, create the mood while the trumpet and sax of Dave Madden and Mathieu Bost play with your emotions, wailing, stabbing, and riding the melodies of Ska, Reggae, and Dancehall. <P>Produced by Jah Thomas for Silver Kamel Audio

Nazarenes "Songs of Life" Album Review

Spectacular
I just got this CD as part of a premium for contributing to KPFK, one of the Pacifica public radio stations. As with most public radio thank you gifts, I had to wait 4 months to get it. But boy was it well worth the wait!! All I can say is that these two Ethiopian brothers are truly blessed and so are we for hearing their music. I'd give this CD 6 stars if I could. Every track is a gem. If you don't believe me, just sample the lot. The melodies, rhythms, conscious lyrics and almost supernatural harmonizing of these guys make for strong medicine. I can't wait to buy their next album but for now I'm gonna be nourishing my soul with their Songs of Life.

Cultura Profetica "Cancion de Alerta" Album Review

If you love reggae and jazz, you'll love this one.....
No matter the language just listen and flow with the feeling of reggae roots and positive vibes, this album is the first of four albums and they get better with time. This band has a latin jazz flow with roots background and when they put it together into music and rythym it feel like being in another world...great!
