Screechie and Kojak "Screechie and Kojak" Album Review

Album Description
Continuing with the reissuing of great music from the vaults Silver Kamel presents a selection of songs and sinjay from Delton Screechie, Kojak, and Liza from the 80's and 90's. <P>Kojak is a star of many talents, both as a producer and a performing artist. He has been an innovator of great creative insight, being the first to combine female and male DJ's on the same track with his duo of divas the two Lizas, Beverley Brown and Jacqueline Boland. Lady Saw and Beanie man have both paid homage to Kojaks style and influence. <P>Check out the great hit "Black Skin, Blue-Eyed Girl" for a great example of this combination! <P>Screechie and Kojak deliver a set of songs and dubs that will thrill and inspire you, as they guide you through all the moods of reggae - from the roots of Rasta inspired "Jah is my Light" to the lovers inspired "Teardrops" to the social statements of "Work Hard" and even a piece of Jamaican history on the hit "Bunny Rhygin" the rude boy whose antics were immortalized by Jimmy Cliff in "The Harder They Come" a movie by Perry Henzell. <P>On this CD is a message for everyone and I leave you with a quote from Kojak himself: <P>"I would like to let you know more about myself. I will try to let you know in some other way, and the best way I can do that is through music." Kojak.

Dub Trio "Exploring the Dangers of" Album Review

Sick sick sick dub
Real time dub.
Sometimes teetering on the edge of chaos,
has roots moments, but spacy many times.
Too bad their next release was metal.

Finley Quaye "Maverick A Strike" Album Review

Why mention Saint Bob?
Why classify this? I suppose anyone playing reggae or using elements of reggae could be deemed a second rate Bob Marley. It's catchy pop music, some of the tunes are infectious. Isn't that enough?
(Does anyone know who the musicians are?)
